A day of finishes

It all started with this pile of projects that has been sitting next to my sewing machine for the past week waiting to be finished.

image

It’s really not that much maybe an hours worth of work, but also let me mention it’s finals week for this college student so I haven’t worked on them for days.
But with only a little over a week left before the show I know I have to get it done.

So first I finished small, some candy Coaster mug rugs. If I had the time honestly I think I would make a whole quilt out of these. I find them adorable.

image

Next I went medium. A lattice table runner that I almost gave up on honestly.

image

But I’m glad I didn’t because I do like it.

Now time to tackle the big project that I am still wondering how to quilt.

image

I love the fabric. I love the block. I just don’t love the idea of having all that fabric bunched up in my tiny machine for quilting. But eventually, probably sooner than later, it will get done. It has to.

Then I tackled a project that wasn’t on the table. Instead it’s sat all cut out for a couple weeks. Waiting to be pieced.

image

And added binding to a small baby quilt. Waiting now to be hand sewn.

image

But I think that’s all for now. Hopefully lots more to come. Happy crafting all. 🙂

So much to do!!

I have been so busy getting ready for my first craft fair.
I’ve been vigorously making and quilting and sewing and thinking.
With only 2 weeks left I thought I was doing pretty good but I pulled out all my finished products today and it just doesn’t seem to be enough.
This concerns me. It is just a very small town show so I don’t need TOO much stuff, but how much is enough?
I guess I will just have to see.

Now it’s time to share some pictures.

Just a couple of items that I’ve finished.
Once I get a moment to breathe I will post better photos of all the finished items.
Thanks for reading and happy crafting.

Busy Busy

I feel as though I have gotten quite a bit accomplished in the past 2 weeks, but then I remember all the rest I have to do and I realize it’s not quite as much as I would hope.

The craft show is a short 3 weeks 1 day away and I have a million and one things I’m hoping to get done before then.

But before I get back to work I wanted to share some of the things I have finished.

i finished these coffee cup place mats. I love the coffee cup. And that may be because I’m addicted to coffee, but oh well. Its a super simple paper piecing pattern and you end up with something adorable.

IMG_1226

Next up is this batik migrating geese table runner. I find these charm square packages, and I cant help myself. So this simple pattern allows for the use of one charm pack.

IMG_1204

Its never too early for Christmas. Seriously I just found out that Christmas in July was a legit thing.

IMG_1220

This is my personal favorite, its a migrating geese table runner but this charm pack (Heartfelt) was so absolutely gorgeous. I’m completely in love. So here’s another picture of the full thing.

Isn’t that fabric beautiful?

Well i suppose I should get off the computer and start doing something productive. Happy sewing, quilting, crafting everyone 🙂

I almost forgot

I attended the Royal Gorge Quilt Council Quilt Show a couple of weeks ago. There were some amazing quilts. I took my daughter and she had a blast looking at all the colors and designs. I just wanted to share a couple of the ones that I fell in love with.

20150624_142107

This was the first quilt I saw when i walked through the door. I absolutely love the simplicity but also the shapes make it seem so much more without assaulting the eye.

20150624_142710

This was a sampler quilt. I’ll be honest, I’m not a big fan of sampler quilts and I think I can attribute that to my OCD and having the make every symmetrical. But I loved the colors and shapes in this quilt. Even if its not my style, its still a wonderful quilt.

20150624_142701

I can’t exactly pinpoint what I love about this one, but I do love it. The colors work so well together.

20150624_142655

Anybody who knows me knows how much I love Hallowe’en, so to see a Hallowe’en quilt just brought out my inner child. I think I stared at this one for 10 minutes debating whether or not anyone would notice it was missing. (I’m kidding obviously) If I didn’t have a million and one things to do I would like to do nothing but Hallowe’en items for the next 6 months.

20150624_142345

Look at this! Isn’t that beautiful? First its an interticate design, and then to throw in those fabrics. Wow, there is a lot to look at and I’m loving every single part.

20150624_142537

This is tied as one of my favorites. I absolutely love the colors, how vibrant they are, if any of you see any of my other work, I like bright bold colors and this quilt brings them. I find this absolutely beautiful!

20150624_142523

Now this is my absolute favorite quilt I came across. The thing was HUGE! I sat there and could imagine how many trips to the sewing machine this person had to make. How much planning and time went into this. And its absolutely fantastic! My daughter loved it too. She practically jumped out of my arms to cuddle it. Just like the Hallowe’en quilt I found myself wondering if anyone would notice the sudden disappearance. But then I got logical and how was i supposed to carry out a quilt 10 times bigger than me. Fist off how was I to get it off the hanger? I’m 5’2″….I would need a ladder and then the plan just gets messy from there.

We don’t have very many quilt shows where I’m at so even though this one was quite small it was still wonderful to see all the gorgeous things people had created. There was one quilt there someone had spent 10 years making. 10 years! I guess I find that crazy because that is half of my life.

Either way I can’t wait for the upcoming craft fair so I can check out some other crafts. Maybe there will be some fellow quilters there.

Until then happy quilting, sewing, blogging, ect. 🙂

It’s been awhile but…

I have been so busy!!

Midterm week was last week so the week before that was full of cramming and definitions and history and geography and a bit of human disease oh my. Thankfully I survived with nothing less than 102%. I was pretty pleased with myself. But enough ego boosting.

I’ve decided to participate in a local craft show. So I’ve been creating as fast as my little fingers will allow. And to be honest my mind works at hyper speed compared to my hands.

I finished or almost finished quite a few projects.

Lets Fly South is pieced and quilted

Now you see me is pieced and ready to be quilted

As is Bear Claw

image

I have 4 coffee cup place Mats that need to be sandwiched.

image

Not a finished picture but it’s the only one I have at the moment.

4 mug rugs that are in the process of being bound…binded? Either way.

240 half square triangles in the process of being squared.

image

2 wandering geese table runners. 1 finished and one needed quilting.

Aaaand a lot of fabric waiting for it’s chance in the spotlight.

image

5 weeks left but I would say I’m off to an excellent start since I’ve accomplished all of this in the last week.

I’m feeling a little burnt out but I know it will all be worth it in the end.

My etsy store is feeling a bit neglected but I want as much product for the show as possible.

Until next time, happy quilting everyone. 🙂
